About SATLE

SATLE – the Strategic Alignment of Teaching and Learning Enhancement Funding in Higher Education – is a €6.4m funding allocation administered by the National Forum in partnership with the Higher Education Authority to drive teaching and learning innovation and enhancement across the higher education sector.

This year’s allocation to SETU has supported over 33 initiatives, including large-scale projects, individual fellowships and university-wide seminars, all of which are designed to enhance the learning environment.

The focused themes for SATLE 2023 are:

  • Enhancing Blended Delivery in an Evolving Context.
  • "Cultivating Inclusive Playgrounds: A Collaborative Educational Initiative for Early "Childhood Development".
  • Collaborative Innovations for Sustainable Futures - CI4SusFut. 
  • Developing a toolkit for ethical GenAI integration in large group teaching and assessment in Arts or theory-based modules. 
  • Coding Essentials: Extending Our Web-App to New Programmers.
  • Use of an online early alert system to enhance student learning and to aid student retention in introductory chemistry modules. 
  • Raising the Bar-UDL and the potential for transforming learning environments: A case study of the first steps in introducing a UDL framework to teaching, learning and assessment on a departmental level at SETU.

  • CP-CO: Community of Practice to pilot Copilot for Office 365.
  • From past to present, recognising the relevance of the history of social care education. 
  • Empowering Minds: Enhancing Engagement and Scientific Identity in First Year Common Science Student. 
  • Teaching & Learning in Prison Contexts.
  • Develop Students’ Skills Through Photonics and Optoelectronics Engineering Experiments that Promote Sustainability Concepts.

  • AI Literacy Tutorial.
  • Embedding eco-social justice and Sustainable Development Goals within Early Childhood and Social Care programmes and module descriptors.
