Management Practice

The overall aim of the programme is to provide an academic qualification - Level 8 BA (Honours) in Management Practice to learners who have successfully completed year 3 of the BA in Sport, Management and Coaching, or year 3 of the BA Sport, Business and Coaching Management programmes. The BA Honours in Management Practice allows learners the option of a broad based academic business management curriculum that is relevant to the development of an enterprise. The programme equips students with a detailed knowledge of business management within the contemporary environment, enabling them to integrate this knowledge and create value-driven solutions within a management context.
A key focus of the course is the development of essential research and presentation skills, both individually and collaboratively. Graduates will be trained to plan, design, and implement research projects while fostering independent, creative, and client-centred thinking. Additionally, the programme enhances a range of transferrable and transversal skills necessary for professional success. These competencies are strengthened through the practical application of theories and concepts, demonstrated via coursework, presentations, and a major project based on real-world organisational settings.
Critical thinking and decision-making skills are integral to the programme, preparing students to make informed judgments based on qualitative and quantitative evidence. Graduates will develop the ability to assess and implement interventions tailored to the needs of organisations, teams, and individuals. Furthermore, they will be capable of critically evaluating business development trends and proposing relevant solutions, allowing them to work independently and creatively in a business or sports-related environment.
The course also fosters personal and professional development, ensuring that graduates possess the confidence, maturity, and competence to operate effectively in various management and sports-related settings. They will be prepared to work autonomously or collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, assume leadership roles when required, engage in peer evaluation and monitoring, and work under supervision when necessary.
Graduates will be encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning, think independently, and critically analyse emerging issues within the management landscape. The programme also emphasises social responsibility, encouraging students to develop a strong personal value system, assess the implications of sports policies, and reflect on their own practice. By refining their skill set, graduates will be equipped to adapt to new challenges, innovate, and contribute effectively to the evolving business and management environment.
