This module is appropriate for those students who may not have studied at third level for some time.  It is a workshop-based programme that provides the learner with skills necessary for leadership and management and it is open to any member of the multidisciplinary team working in healthcare, for example nurses, social care workers, and allied health care professionals. The aim of the programme is to provide learners with the appropriate knowledge and personal skills to enable them to contribute effectively to the management of health services.  The programme will provide opportunities for the learner to develop and enhance their knowledge of relevant management theory, tools and best practice.  It provides an opportunity for networking and sharing relevant information.

Who is this course suited to?

The course is structured to support the learner while facilitating those who are in full time employment. During the semester each student is expected to attend one full day in college on alternate weeks.  Through interactive workshops and stimulating discussion with colleagues, the core concepts of management will be explored. This will be facilitated as a lecturer-led approach where the experiences of the learners in the different healthcare settings will be explored to bring the key concepts to life.

We also offer a level 9 (masters level) Certificate in management for health professionals. This programme uses a blended learning approach delivered over one semester following a workshop format spread over 3 “blocks” during the semester. It runs between January and May.
