This programme offers a comprehensive introduction to professional video editing techniques, workflows, and industry best practices. Students will gain hands-on experience using industry-standard post-production software, equipping them with the skills needed to manage professional video edits effectively. The training will focus on mastering editing software while fostering creativity in producing compelling media content.
The primary learning material for the course will be the latest version of Avid Media Composer software literature, ensuring students are trained on cutting-edge tools and practices. As part of this Level 7 program, students will engage in continuous assessment through practical assignments and projects, allowing them to apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios and build a professional portfolio.
In addition to the continuous assessment projects, the course offers an optional Avid Certification. This certification is provided by Avid Technology Corporation and is separate from the program’s core evaluations. Earning this certification will further validate students' expertise with Avid Media Composer, enhancing their credentials in the competitive media industry.
- Organising the Edit: This will cover editing workflows relating to the organising and importing of footage to the software.
- Troubleshooting content: This aspect relates to checking through footage in order to identify issues such as: exposure, inconsistent colour grade, shaky footage, sound levels. When identified these issues will be fixed in order to deliver a broadcast-ready production.
- Working with other software: This content of the course relates to competence regarding the preparation in the edit software for utilising 3rd party software. This includes, colour grading, motion graphics and audio software.
- Creative Editing Techniques: Tactics that enable a professional video edit including the exploration of: controlling the pace of the edit, utilising sound, cutting to a rhythm and designing a long edit by building shorter segments.
