Overview
This award is designed to meet the needs of students who wish to gain an introduction to the world of web design. It will introduce students to the technologies used to create networked media interfaces, to web design principles, digital illustration and imaging.
On completion of this programme, students should be able to:
Explain web design principles and process;
Create projects that demonstrate technical and theoretical web design skills;
Construct a portfolio in web design

This course aims to develop an understanding of the Web development cycle. Gain an in-depth knowledge of HTML and CSS required for web development. Gain the necessary understanding of technology, software and infrastructure that surround the field of web design. Employ a design focused approach to web design and development. Gain effective and practical skills in the are of web development.
Web Communications
Development of the World Wide Web. Standards Development and Browser Relationship. Mobile Web. Development tools.
HTML
Start and end tags, elements, composite tags, attributes, containers, div, class and Id tags. Forms and layout options. Input types.
CSS
CSS syntax, selectors, properties, values, precedence. CSS box model. Compound selectors, ids, classes, advanced CSS selectors. External vs Internal vs Inline CSS. Media Queries.
Web Design
Design workflow. Design documents, organisational schema, wireframe, mockups. Contemporary design trends. User Experience (UX).
UX Design
Understand what UX design is, how to create and develope engaging User Experience
