The primary objective of this programme is to provide a NFQ Level 7 Diploma in Health & Safety, to meet a legislative and Industry need in order for students to acquire the knowledge, attributes and skills required to understand the importance of compliance to Health and Safety in the workplace. Students will undertake modules on Risk Management, Hazard Control, Health, Safety and Environmental Management and Safety Practitioner Skills. Finally student will undertake a capstone module Researching Health Safety and Welfare in the Workplace. The aim of this module is to provide the practical application of the learning from the other four modules on the programme pertaining to Health and Safety Management in the workplace. In conducting this practical based research based on real world practice, learners are afforded an opportunity to gain an insight into the role of a safety practitioner. On completion of the programme, graduates will be able to demonstrate the ability to plan the preparation and completion of regular reviews of an organisation's health and safety management system and advise on and provide for the suitable management practices and policy amendments. They will be able to demonstrate the ability to plan, prepare develop and deliver effective communication and training programmes on occupational health and safety and display a knowledge of general concepts of employment law and how this relates to health and safety management. The programme is delivered by industry and academic experts with a strong emphasis on authentic assessments so that the student can bring real value to their organisation with immediate effect.
