The SETU sports participation programme helps to boost students’ health and wellbeing while also providing opportunities for physical activity, friendship, and social interaction. In addition to the health advantages of exercise, participants learn new skills from experienced instructors and enjoy the camaraderie, ambiance, and enjoyment of the programme. Many of the 30 plus sports clubs offer recreational activities, such as tag rugby, 3v3 basketball, international GAA and recreational soccer to name a few. Other specific programmes that are hugely popular with students are zumba, pilates, hip hop, yoga, and salsa, as are the special interest classes such as archery and airsoft. Many clubs also provide weekly activities and leagues for students who wish to get active without the commitment associated with weekly training and intervarsity competition.
