Before you make any decisions on leaving your course, we would ask that you link in with the Student Support team to help you to consider your options carefully.

If you still wish to withdraw from your course, you may do so by completing the withdrawal application available in your online student portal.

For a number of different reasons, a student may find themselves in a position where they no longer wish to or are in a position to continue on their programme. In this case, a student would withdraw or deregister from the University.

Deregistering means that a student officially notifies the University that they are leaving their programme. Students remain liable for fees up to the date they officially withdraw from the University.

In order to deregister, a student must:

  • Withdraw/deregister through the online student registration portal button below.
  • Once logged into your student registration information, you can select to submit a deregistration request.
  • In the case of international students who are in SETU on a study visa, via the International Office, if a student has deregistered from their programme, the student must satisfy the requirements of the Immigration Authorities in Ireland as outlined by the Waterford, or other relevant Immigration Office.
  • This process officially notifies the University that a student has left their programme. Following on from this, a letter is sent to confirm that the withdrawal/deregistration has been processed. Once deregistered, a student will no longer have access to University facilities.

NOTE: A student has not withdrawn their place on a programme in SETU until the above process has been completed, discussion with an academic member of staff is not sufficient to deregister.
