Carlow Orientation

This year’s SETU Carlow Orientation for the 2024/25 incoming first year students will take place in September 2024.

There are 3 stages to SETU Carlow Orientation:

Step 1 - Online Orientation - StartSETU Orientation will commence from Thursday, 5 September 2024 through our online orientation session. Zoom links are available below per Academic Faculty. Details will be issued to by email after the Round 1 offers. This will be sent to the email address you submitted to the CAO. Please also check your junk email inbox for this information.

Step 2 - Online Registration - Online registration will be sent by email on Monday, 9 September. Details will be issued to the email used on your CAO application from.

Step 3 - On Campus Orientation - StartSETU On Campus orientation will take place on either Monday, 9 or Tuesday, 10 September depending on your course of study. This affords you the opportunity to explore your campus before classes start, take a campus tour, meet your class mates, speak to your course leader and current students and find out about the services and supports available to you.

Classes will commence for all first years on Wednesday, 11 September.

Your next steps

Registration for full-time undergraduate new entrants (first years) opens in September. As soon as you get an email from us at [email protected] you can go ahead and proceed to online registration immediately.
First years will be given information on how to register in your Start SETU email
You will receive your registration email throughout the day on Monday, 9 September. Please note that these emails will be sent in batches throughout the day so don't worry if you don't receive it early in the day.

Note - you will not have access to University facilities or access to your student card until you have fully completed registration which includes payment of 50% fees or provide your SUSI award details and upload your photo.
Student Cards will be issued to First Year students commencing Monday, 16 September

StartSETU orientation is very important for any incoming first years or transfer student as it marks the start of a new academic journey.

The StartSETU Orientation programme provides an opportunity to meet members of student support staff and course leaders, and allows discussions on topics such as selecting a major or the registering process. It also encompasses campus tours, informative sessions, academic guidance, social gatherings, and ample opportunities for students to seek clarifications by asking questions.

Different courses deliver their orientation in different ways. It is extremely important that you attend.
