Conferring ceremonies are taking place for Level 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 Major Awards Tuesday 29 October to Friday 1 November 2024.
The ceremony schedule is available online.
Your invitation was sent to you by post, to the home address we currently have for you on our student records system. If you have moved house recently please check with your old address or contact An Post for post forwarding options.
If you do not receive your invitation by Wednesday 16 October 2024 then please contact [email protected].
You will receive an email with a registration code inviting you to register for the Conferring ceremony. This email will be sent to your SETU student email address. Due to GDPR and University policies, we are unable to send this invite to any other email account.
Please note that your SETU student email address follows the format: [email protected] (e.g., [email protected]). The password to access this email is the original 9-letter password you used during online registration. If you have forgotten your password, please contact [email protected] for assistance.
To log into your SETU student email account, visit www.setu.ie and click on "Student Email" in the menu at the top right corner.
Conferring ceremonies are taking place at the SETU Arena, West Campus, Carriganore, Co Waterford. X91XD96.
If you or any of your guests have accessibility requirements for the ceremony please advise Ms. Margaret Maher at [email protected] in advance of the ceremony.
Each graduate may invite two guests only to be present in the Conferring Hall, SETU Arena and entry to the ceremony is strictly by ticket only. To ensure seating, guests are advised that they should present themselves at the Conferring Hall no later than 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start of the procession of graduates. Doors close once the procession of graduates commences. Please note that the ticket is not transferable and, therefore, may only be used by your guests. Your guest ticket was posted to you, in your Conferring information pack.
- All graduands are required to present themselves in academic robes and SETU colours. Dress attire should be appropriate to the occasion e.g. formal business attire.
- The official gown makers for SETU are Phelan Conan Limited*.
- To book your gown, you must register online at www.phelanconan.com
- Under Institution, choose ‘SETU Waterford’, then choose the date of your ceremony and select gown type and then follow the instructions.
- You must book your gown by 12 midnight on Thursday, 24 October 20024.
- Pre-booked hire fee for Gowns is €33. For those who miss the deadline payment on the day for Gown hire, the fee is €35. Cash payment cannot be facilitated on the day – card payment only. Payment can be made by scanning the QR code.
- Gown Return: your gown should be returned to the drop back point within 1 hour of the ceremony finishing.

*Graduands are free to search for academic gowns and SETU colours on their own behalf, however they must comply with the university’s academic dress code and colours for the award type.
Collection Date & Location
Gowns can be collected from the Marquee SETU Sports Arena, Waterford at the below dates and times, it is strongly advised to collect the evening prior to your ceremony to ensure you have sufficient time on the day of your ceremony.
- Saturday 26th October between 11am– 2pm OR Tuesday 29th October between 8am – 10.30am for those attending the 11am ceremony Tuesday 29th October
- Saturday 26th October between 11am– 2pm OR Tuesday 29th October between 11.30am – 2.30am for those attending the 3pm ceremony Tuesday 29th October
- Tuesday 29th October between 3.30pm– 6.30pm OR Wednesday 30th October between 8am – 9.15am for those attending the 9.30am ceremony Wednesday 30th October
- Tuesday 29th October between 3.30pm– 6.30pm OR Wednesday 30th October between 10am – 12pm for those attending the 12.30pm ceremony Wednesday 30th October
- Tuesday 29th October between 3.30pm– 6.30pm OR Wednesday 30th October between 1pm – 3pm for those attending the 3.30pm ceremony Wednesday 30th October
- Wednesday 30th October between 4pm– 7pm OR Thursday 31st October between 8am – 10.30am for those attending the 11am ceremony Thursday 31st October.
Note: The cap is included in the order on collection of your gown. Non return of your gown may result in a penalty/fine.
Please be advised that the link to book your photography may not yet be open, but will be live on the website closer to the time of the ceremonies.
The official photographers on the day are Lafayette Photography.
It is recommended that you book your photo session online with Lafayette, to prepay for your photographs. The link to book your photo session is www.lafayette.ie through the ‘Graduation Photography’ section. Parchment frames will be available for you to purchase on campus after your ceremony as well as online through their Frame Shop An option will be available for you to filter on the frame size ‘SETU’ to find the correct size.
Any queries in relation to photographs must be made directly with Lafayette and not with SETU.
There is parking available at the SETU Arena and parking attendants will guide you to a parking location.
You must present yourself at the registration desk in SETU Arena no later than sixty minutes before the procession of graduates. You will be required to remain in your registration area and will be led in procession to the Conferring Hall.
If you are unable to attend the ceremony on the day, you do not need to notify us of this. Your parchment will be posted to the address we have on our student system for you by post after the ceremonies have taken place.
The event will be recorded and there will also be a live stream available to view for any guests who cannot make it on the day. Details of the live stream will be available on our website: www.setu.ie
Most of the ceremonies will take an hour. Refreshments will be served after each ceremony and a photographer will be available. It is best to allow two hours.
