Research Excellence Awards 2024

On behalf of Prof. Marie Claire Van Hout, Dr Geraldine Canny, and Dr Brian Jackson, we are pleased to announce our South East Technological University (SETU) Research Excellence Awards 2024. 

The aim of the awards is to recognise the outstanding contributions of academic and research staff for excellent and innovative research that enhances SETU’s reputation and capacity to perform outstanding research. 

This year's ceremony

The Research Excellence Awards are held annually, with this year’s ceremony scheduled for 16 January 2025 at our Kilkenny Road, Carlow campus. 

The awards categories are, as follows: 

The awards are open to all research disciplines across the university.

Nominations now open

Nominations for the awards are now open and will be accepted until 4 NOVEMBER 2024. Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to submit nominations highlighting the significant contributions of their peers.

SETU invites nominations under the Four Award Categories detailed on our guidance document. Nomination forms are available on our dedicated webpage.

Winners will be selected by a panel of esteemed judges, including faculty members, industry experts, and community leaders. The awards ceremony will feature keynote speakers from various research fields, showcasing the diverse impact of SETU’s research initiatives.

 

Nominating your Peers

All nomination forms for your chosen category must be submitted in PDF to [email protected]  before 16:00 on 04/11/2024

The guidance on the nomination process is available in our guidance document and it is important to review this document carefully in advance of completing a nomination. Please provide sufficient detail within your nomination forms with respect to the criteria set for each category and the review criteria.  This will help the reviewers assess your nomination.  

  • All nominees will be asked for a corresponding CV/Supervisor profile to assist the reviewers in their assessment. Nominations will not be eligible to proceed without the corresponding CV/Supervisor profile under relevant categories.  
  • Internal evaluations will be conducted for all awards. These awards will recognise the commitment and excellence of our research community in driving innovation and impact across all disciplines.  All reviewers will be required to sign a Conflict-of-Interest form prior to conducting their evaluation. 
  • If you are aware of a member of SETU staff who has made a significant contribution to research, this is your opportunity to highlight that contribution.  Last year's winners are listed on the Research Excellence Awards page.
