SETU Waterford Science Careers Day
Date : Fri 14 Mar
SETU Arena
SETU Waterford is looking forward to the Science Careers Day, to be held at the SETU Arena on Friday, 14 March 2025. The recipient of the 2025 Una McDermott Award for Contribution to Science will be announced, and will address final-year students from our full portfolio of science programmes, including:
- Agriculture
- Agricultural Science
- Food Science with Business/Food Science and Innovation
- Molecular Biology with Biopharmaceutical Science
- Pharmaceutical Science
- Physics for Modern Technology
- Horticulture
- Forestry
These students are currently engaged in the final year of an ordinary (three-year, Level 7) or honours (four-year, Level 8) degree and will be available for work in June 2025.
This is an ideal opportunity for employers to engage directly with highly-skilled individuals who have been trained to meet the demands of modern industry. The majority of the morning will be devoted to a networking event where employers can meet students and discuss career opportunities. Each employer attending will receive a Careers Day Graduate Handbook containing information on approximately 270 students, including a short biography and contact details (see “Student Profiles” tab for examples from previous years).

The SETU Arena is on our West (Carriganore) campus – this is NOT the main SETU Waterford campus on the Cork Rd. Please use Eircode X91 XD96 or set GPS for “SETU Arena”.
Parking is free at the SETU Arena carpark on a first-come, first-serve basis. Free parking is also available in the Greenway carpark just across the road.
Each company will be allocated a table (either 10 x 8 ft rectangular, or high round 6 ft), fitted with a tablecloth colour-coded according to industry area. You may set up pull-up stands etc behind the table.
The networking session will happen in the main hall of the SETU Arena between 10.40 and 1pm (Link to schedule tab). You are free to arrive as early as you'd like, and of course if you'd like to hear any of the talks you're welcome to attend those, but for those of you who are coming just for the networking session you'll need to be in place for about 10.30am, presumably with your pull up stands set up behind your table etc. We do ask you to please be as quiet as possible when setting up, because the final third of the hall will be being used for talks between 9am and when the networking session starts, and there is only a light material partition between the sections, so any noise being made in the networking area at that time will be heard, and it can be off-putting for speakers. Of course, some small amount of noise is inevitable, but we'd really appreciate it if you could make an effort to set up as quietly as possible.
Tea/coffee will be available to companies on arrival, and throughout the networking session. We will also be offering a sit-down lunch in the restaurant upstairs at 1pm to any company representatives who can make it.
