SommiT is a gathering of Food and Wine professionals from within the Hospitality industry. This year is the third year of this unique event and the second year it is being held at SETU.

Attendees may include restaurant professionals both service and culinary, retail sales buyers and sellers, food and wine writers and broadcasters, hoteliers, wine importers and producers, and their distributors. These people all share dedication to their trades alongside a profound love for wine, food, and service.

What to expect at SommiT:

  • Discussion and debate with international authorities in many and varied areas of hospitality.
  • Experiential Wine and Food Synergy workshop developed in the US and distinctive as the only program of its kind to receive accreditation from the American Culinary Federation.
  • The ZING! thing
  • Tastings featuring the VIP grapes/wines of this years event: Riesling and Grenache/ Garnacha.

All forums encourage interaction throughout.

SommiT has also introduced an event for Ireland’s food and wine enthusiasts who don’t work in the industry.

Conversations between Morgan VanderKamer, the president of the Irish Guild of Sommeliers and Patricia Rogers, recently repatriated from wine production in Oregon USA, became a collaboration. Both shared a deep belief in the value of education as stimulus and so education and ideation became the core of all things SommiT.

This year SommiT is holding a wine enthusiasts day on Sunday, 13 October in Tower Hotel, Waterford. The purpose is to encourage the public interest in wine.
