Try Languages 2025

Time : 11:00 - 14:30

Cost : €0

Cork Road Campus, Waterford

Dive into the world of languages during Try Languages at SETU. This event invites sixth, fifth, transition year, and further education students to experience a day in the life of a languages student at SETU.

Learning a foreign language not only enhances linguistic skills but also boosts cultural awareness. Being multilingual is increasingly valuable in the global job market, offering diverse career prospects and sought-after transferable skills.

The event allows participants to explore three different languages in a relaxed setting, with interactive games and prizes. SETU offers languages in courses across various disciplines like Arts, Hospitality Management, Business, International BusinessConstruction Management, Quantity Surveying.

Prospective students can choose from six languages: French, Irish, Spanish, Italian, German, or Chinese. Attendees will get a feel for actual language lectures, gaining insights into SETU's teaching format and delivery style.

The Bachelor of Arts (Hons), SE200, offers students an opportunity to specialise as a Language student. Students can continue their French, Irish or Spanish studies from Leaving Certificate or take up Spanish as a Beginner; all of these options lead to the student attaining a high level of proficiency in the language(s) of study.

Our Joint Honours Arts degree allows students to take three equally weighted subjects in year one and then specialise in two. Teaching subjects on our Arts degree meet the Teaching Council of Ireland requirements to register as a post-primary teacher on completion of a Professional Masters in Education.

Join us for Try Languages at SETU and discover the practical and diverse language learning opportunities that SETU provides for future academic and career success.

This event is free but booking is required to attend as places are limited.
