The staff and students of South East Technological University are deeply concerned by the humanitarian disaster which is unfolding in Ukraine due to the Russian invasion. SETU has established a task force to see how we can best work with local and national authorities to play our part in supporting Ukrainians at this time. Work is ongoing in terms of student admissions and supports, accommodation, facilities, fundraising and other supports, and SETU will do all it can at this dark time for the people of Ukraine.
It is clear that SETU must take a flexible, accommodating, supportive approach, and work with HEIs across the sector, and particularly the Ukrainian community itself, to respond effectively. To this end, the SETU Taskforce, Chaired by Dr. Allison Kenneally, Vice President for Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, is building upon work already underway in Carlow, Waterford and Wexford to date. The taskforce is responsible for ensuring a coherent and coordinated approach and plan to SETU actions in response to this crisis and is guided first and foremost by the Ukrainian people in the South East, whose needs are central to this activity. Engagement with the Ukrainian community to identify their needs on an ongoing basis is critical to frame a suitable response and will underpin the work of the taskforce.
To assist with the work of the Taskforce, SETU has recruited 3 Ukrainian Refugee Engagement Officers to work with the university across its campuses to ensure that the Ukrainian community is central to our actions.

У SETU створено робочу групу, яка вивчає, як ми можемо найкраще співпрацювати з місцевими та національними органами влади, щоб відігравати свою роль у підтримці українців у цей час. Робота триває у напрямках приймання та підтримки студентів з України, розміщення, облаштування, збору коштів та інших видів підтримки, і SETU робить все можливе у цей важкий для народу України час.
Зрозуміло, що для ефективного реагування на ситуацію, що склалася, SETU має застосовувати гнучкий, адаптивний, підтримувальний підхід та співпрацювати з вищими навчальними закладами в усьому секторі, і особливо з українською громадою. З цією метою робоча група SETU під головуванням доктора Еллісон Кіннілі, віцепрезидента з питань рівності, різноманітності та інклюзії SETU, продовжує діяльність, яка ведеться у Карлоу, Уотерфорді та Вексфорді. Робоча група відповідає за забезпечення узгодженого та скоординованого підходу та плану дій SETU у відповідь на цю кризу та керується, в першу чергу, інтересами української громади південного сходу Ірландії, потреби якої є головними у цій діяльності. Взаємодія з українською громадою з метою визначення її потреб на постійній основі має вирішальне значення для формування відповідних подальших дій та лежить в основі роботи групи.
З метою надання допомоги у діяльності робочої групи, SETU залучив трьох українських офіцерів з питань взаємодії з громадою, які працюють з університетом в усіх його кампусах, щоб гарантувати, що українська громада займає центральне місце в наших діях.
