***This orientation is for students enrolled at the SETU Carlow Campus only.***

 

Welcome

To welcome you to SETU and to help you to understand student life in Carlow, we have an Orientation Programme for you. These days are important for students to get to know the university and its facilities. It provides an opportunity for students to get to know each other, have some fun and make friends before classes commence.

First Year Students

You will have your online orientation on Thursday, 5 September. We will send you the invite link shortly. You can join the online orientation from the comfort of your home, but please note that you must be in Ireland to access the session.

Following the online orientation, you are required to attend the in-person orientation on campus on Friday, 6 September, and Monday, 9 September.

Postgraduate and Advanced Entry Students

You will start your on-campus orientation on Thursday, 5 September. Please meet in room L117 at 11am. During this session, you will be shown how to set up your bank account and receive a warm welcome to the university. 

Following the online orientation, you are required to attend the in-person orientation on campus on Friday, 6 September, and Monday, 9 September.

Student Services talk in the Sports Hall. Meet staff from our different departments: Computing Services, Sports Office, Library, Students’ Union etc. and find out about the University’s Facilities!

Group 2:

Irish Dancing (please wear active wear.)
Venue - Activities Room, Barrow Centre.

11:30am - 11:45pmTea/Coffee break in the main cafeteria
11:45am - 1:15pm 

Group 1:

Group 2:

International Student Night Out

A night out to have fun with your new friends. There will be food and vegetarian options.
Venue - Terrace, Dinn Ri, Tullow Street, Carlow.

Important Information

You will get to try some traditional Irish sports – Hurling/Camogie and Gaelic Football. Our coaches will show you the basic skills of each of these sports. Please wear active wear. This is a fun activity and an opportunity to be part of a truly Irish cultural experience. If you are not into sport, you can go to our Students’ Union Centre and try pool, PlayStation, board games or just relax, hang out and get to know new people.
