Welcome to the "Application Documents" section of the SETU Online Application Process. This guide provides a comprehensive overview of the required documentation for both undergraduate and postgraduate applicants, ensuring that each applicant meets the standards for admission.
All Applications Require the Following Documentation:
- Copy of Passport: A copy of the picture page of a valid passport.
- Document Quality: Ensure all documents are legible and complete.
- Translations: If documents are not in English, provide both the original and an official certified translation.
- Full Pages: Copies or images of parts of pages will not be accepted.
High School Transcript:
The High School Transcript must include:
- Name and address of the school
- Dates of attendance
- Subjects studied
- Grades achieved
If you have completed a ‘school leaving’ exam (A-Level, WAEC, GED etc.) and have a certificate for that exam in addition to your high school transcript, please submit both documents for review.
If you have completed a ‘school leaving’ exam that does not show the name of your high school, dates attended etc. then in addition to the exam certificate, please provide a school report or official, stamped letter from your school, stating what grade / year / stage of your secondary education you were in when you sat for the ‘school leaving’ exam.
If you are still pursuing your high school completion certificate at the time application, please send the results of the most recent exams passed and / or an official school report or letter that lists all the subjects being studied for the final high school completion exams and the predicted final grades for those subjects.
Curriculum Vitae (CV):
Required if high school was completed 3 or more years prior to application. Include in the CV all academic and work experience since high school.
English Language Certificate:
If not available or not meeting requirements, you can apply without it or submit current scores. Conditional offers will not be available to accept until a new certificate meeting the requirements is submitted.
English language certificate must be dated within two years of the start date of the programme being applied for – older certificates are not valid.
If you are applying for advanced entry, in addition to the documents mentioned in the above section, Undergraduate Application Documentation (Bachelor Degree, Higher Diploma or Higher Certificate), you also need to submit university transcripts for all studies you have completed at third level.
University Transcript must include:
- Name and address of the institution attended
- Dates of attendance
- Name of programme studied
- Dates for each semester attended
- Names of modules studied – by semester
- Credit load per semester – if applicable
- Dates of assessment – by semester
- Results of assessment – GPA and % scores if applicable
Bachelor Degree Transcript must include:
- Name and address of the institution attended
- Dates that you attended
- Name of programme studied
- Dates for each semester attended
- Names of modules studied – by semester
- Credit load for each semester – if applicable
- Dates of assessment – by semester
- Results of assessment – GPA and % scores – for each semester and overall if applicable
Important Information for Applicants
- Current Undergraduate Students: If you are still pursuing your undergraduate studies, you must provide transcripts for all completed semesters up to the time of application. Note that a full offer cannot be issued until you have successfully completed your Bachelor’s degree.
- Multiple Qualifications: If you have completed more than one undergraduate qualification or a postgraduate programme, you must provide transcripts and certificates for all qualifications listed on your CV.
- Transcript Details: If your university transcript lists modules/subjects by code rather than name, please provide a key to these codes.
- Work Placements/Internships: If your Bachelor’s degree included a work placement or internship, provide the certificate for this in addition to your academic transcript.
- Indian Universities: You must provide a full set of consecutively dated, individual mark sheets showing all backlogs and subsequent attempts to clear them. If individual mark sheets are not available, provide a consolidated mark sheet or a backlog certificate.
- Official Transcripts: If your university will only send an official transcript directly to the institution, request that it be sent to [email protected]. If you do not have an official copy at the time of application, you can submit an unofficial copy, and we will update your file once the official transcript is received.
Bachelor’s Degree Certificate:
Please provide a copy of your bachelor’s degree certificate / graduation parchment – the copy of the certificate must show all text, images, stamps etc. shown on the original certificate and be of sufficient quality that it is legible.

The CV is a very important part of any application for a postgraduate programme.
Your CV should include the following information and be laid out as below
Pease Note: all qualifications, certifications and work experience should be listed from the most to the least recent.
Statement of Purpose (SOP):
In no more than 600 words provide an outline of the following:
- Why you have chosen to pursue your post-graduate studies at SETU.
- Why you believe that your chosen academic programme is a good fit for you.
- Why you believe that you are a suitable candidate for your chosen programme.
- How gaining this qualification will enhance your career in the future.
The Statement of Purpose is an important part of any postgraduate application – please endeavor to write your SoP in your own words – the purpose of the document is for the faculty member who is reviewing your application to gain some insight into who you are as a person, why you are applying to SETU and how being admitted could affect your future and your career.
