We get it, your first weeks at SETU will be spent socialising and getting to grips with your undergraduate studies. Still, it’s important to take a break from the rush of it all and explore the amazing outdoor locations that Waterford has to offer.

Here are six free, wholesome places to check out that are just a stone’s throw from our Cork Road campus in Waterford.

Tramore Dunes

Tramore needs no introduction, but we’re not here to talk about amusement rides and 99s. Head east away from its celebrated prom and explore the gorgeous dunes and back strand for a refreshing seaside experience.

Drive: 15 mins. Public transport: Take the 360A bus from our Cork Road Campus, 30 mins

Dunmore East Cliff Walk

The postcard-perfect Dunmore East is a perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of college life. Start with a fresh pastry at Seagull Bakery, before making your way uphill towards its thatch-cottage lined main street. Follow signage for the Cliff Walk and enjoy breathtaking views of Wexford’s Hook Head.

Drive: 25 mins. Public transport: Take the 354 bus from our Cork Road Campus, 50 mins

Waterford Walls

Our ‘street gallery’, Waterford Walls, has been carefully curated over the last nine years to boast Ireland's largest street art collection. Featuring work from artists as far afield as Australia and South Africa, as well as contributions from countless local artists, Waterford Walls is perfect if you want to get a little culture into your afternoon.

The People’s Park

Grab a blanket and take in the last of the summer (or autumn) sun at this 16-acre park in the heart of Waterford city.

Drive: 10 mins. Public transport: Take the 736/W2 bus from our Cork Road Campus and then walk from Parnell Street stop, 25 mins

Waterford Greenway

No bike? No problem! Grab a rental at one of the many outlets along Waterford city’s quay. If you’re looking for an über-cheap day out, simply use the route for a jog or long walk.

The Guillamene

The iconic Guillamene on the edge of Tramore has been a popular swimming spot for over 70 years – and for good reason. Thrill seekers can dive straight or the more cautious can step into the cove’s calm waters. Few swimming spots come close to The Guillamene's positive, community spirit.

Drive: 20 mins. Public transport: Take the 354 bus from our Cork Road Campus and then walk from Newtown Hill stop, 55 mins
