Abeer Abou Hajar, who studied Computing in Interactive Digital Art and Design at SETU, reflects on her journey that combined creativity and technology as she prepares to graduate in the October 2024 conferring ceremonies.
Beginning her studies in 2020, Abeer found the perfect blend of digital art, programming and web design, graduating with a strong skill set and a passion for interactive digital media. She said, “I chose this course because it offered a great variety of topics that I’m passionate about, including digital art, programming and web design. Since I’m interested in all three, it was the perfect fit for me.”
CAO journey and practical learning
Applying through the CAO, Abeer embarked on a course that delivered engaging and hands-on learning experiences. She said, “I really enjoyed the practical elements of the course. The lecturers were fantastic, and the subjects were engaging, hands-on and fun to work with.”
An enjoyable and creative experience
Looking back, Abeer reflects on her overall experience with fondness: “My overall experience was amazing, I loved every moment. The combination of creativity and technical learning made the course enjoyable and rewarding.”
Life as a student at SETU
Abeer’s time at SETU was marked by friendships and involvement in campus life. “Being a SETU student was incredible. I made lifelong friends, had a lot of fun and enjoyed every bit of my time here.” Participating in various clubs and societies and serving as a peer mentor for two years added to the richness of Abeer’s experience. She said, “It was really rewarding to help other students.”
Climbing the career ladder
Now, as Abeer prepares to graduate, she is excited to be working as a User Experience Designer at Ericsson, fulfilling a long-time dream. She said, “This role allows me to apply the skills I’ve developed during my time at SETU, and I’m excited to continue growing in the field of user experience design.” With a promising career ahead, Abeer is well prepared for the ever-evolving world of design and development.
