Today the Library Association of Ireland (LAI) announced that Dr Mary Delaney of South East Technological University (SETU) Libraries will be the next Editor of An Leabharlann. An Leabharlann: The Irish Library is published twice a year by The Library Association of Ireland and The Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (Ireland). It is a peer-reviewed, open access, journal.
Cathal McCauley, President of the Library Association of Ireland, welcomed Dr Delaney’s appointment and said: “I am delighted that Dr Mary Delaney will be the next Editor of An Leabharlann. Mary has a strong track record and a keen interest in libraries and writing which will be invaluable. I would also like to acknowledge the wonderful work of the outgoing Editor, Marjory Sliney who over 14 years developed the journal to make it what it is today. Finally, I would like to thank Alan Carbery who chaired the selection process that resulted in this positive outcome.”
Dr Mary Delaney said “I am delighted to take on this role and I look forward to working with library colleagues and the Library Association of Ireland in continuing the long rich tradition of An Leabharlann”.
Marjory Sliney said “ I am very pleased that Dr. Mary Delaney is the new Editor in this the 60th year of the journal’s publication under the auspices of the North/South Liaison Committee. “
The first issue of An Leabharlann which will be edited by Dr Delaney will be published in early 2023.
