South East Technological University (SETU) is delighted to announce that eight members of its research community have received Research Allies awards from the Irish Research Council (IRC).

The Research Ally prize recognises the crucial role of supervisors, mentors, and research support staff in supporting the academic research community.

Postgraduate students, postdoctoral fellows, academic, and research-active staff were invited to nominate the mentors, supervisors, research officers, and technical support staff who have supported their work and careers and improved the Irish research ecosystem.

The awards took place at the recent IRC and Science Foundation Ireland’s Research Summit and saw 68 Research Allies recognised by the IRC.

Dr Thomas O’Toole, Acting Vice President Research, Innovation and Graduate Studies, who attended the summit, warmly congratulated all the SETU staff, and noted “delight for all colleagues recognised as research allies by the IRC. These awards are richly deserved and indicative of the collegiate culture of research and supervision at SETU”.
