From growing up in rural India, completing his undergraduate studies in Pharmacy and moving to the UK to complete his MSc and PhD, Dikshitkumar Khamar has never strayed from his love of education.
Dikshitkumar moved to Ireland in 2012 as postdoctoral research fellow and started working in the pharmaceutical industry. After a break from studying, he returned to education, having graduated with an Executive MBA from SETU in 2024.
Never a dull day
“By the time I joined the Executive MBA, it had been more than 10 years since I completed my master’s degree and PhD,” Dikshitkumar reflected, “Working in the pharmaceutical industry meant there was never a dull day, and I was enjoying technical, people and business leadership. I had been afforded four promotions in the five years preceding the year I joined the Executive MBA, and was feeling grateful to my team, my family and everyone around me.”
Yearning for learning
He describes his motivation for doing the programme: “I had come to the juncture where I felt that I needed to be more self-aware and be more impactful with my mindset, actions, and communication to make a meaningful difference on a bigger scale. I was clear that a short course would not afford me the immersive learning experience that I was yearning for. So, I decided to pursue Executive MBA course at SETU after careful consideration.”
Lasting impact
“The immediate impact after studying this programme was the promotion that I received, and this course has helped me to prepare for this,” Dikshitkumar recalled. “In terms of lasting impact, the course has helped me be more self-aware, understanding of different leadership styles and has given me the ability to make the most out of any situation,” he added.
Dikshitkumar continued: “I feel the course has made me more spontaneous. I guess this happens when one is equipped with the right tools and better self-awareness.”
Advice for adult learners
In Dikshitkumar’s words: “Not to think about the marks is my main advice. One should rather focus on learning. If you turn up, be present and engaged in the classroom, you will get more out of this course. With this attitude, you will be surprised to learn so much from your peers and other interactions that this course provides.”
Course highlights
“I really enjoyed the quality of education, design and delivery of this course. Prior to joining this course, I had joined a different institute in Dublin. I dropped out in the first term realising it wasn’t for me. In turn, I am glad that I joined SETU and completed this course instead. The international trip was a highlight, I loved every minute of it,” Dikshitkumar reflected.
