Second year Early Childhood Education and Practice students based on the Summerhill Road Campus participated in an immersive workshop recently at Cow House Studios in Wexford.
Students were given the chance to explore how to integrate process driven art into early years education. The hands-on workshop focused on equipping students with the tools and techniques needed to encourage creativity and self-expression in young children.
Creating opportunities
Facilitated by Rosie O'Gorman, Co-Director of Cow House Studios in Wexford, the workshop emphasised the importance of creating opportunities for children to use their imagination to create art.
SETU students participated in engaging and creative activities throughout the workshop, the goal of which was to learn how to incorporate skills development while fostering the imagination of young learners.
This approach emphasises the value of allowing children to explore art without restrictions in early childhood education, which as a result nurtures their holistic growth and adaptability.
Workshops like these prepare SETU students for success in their future classrooms, where adaptable, child-centred learning is necessary to provide young children with the best start in education.
