ICS Technology Gateway is one of 17 Gateways to secure a shared total of €47million in fresh funding, for the continuation of the Enterprise Ireland Technology Gateway Programme until 2029.

ICS Technology Gateway at Walton Institute, South East Technological University (SETU) is the new name for TSSG Technology Gateway, a cornerstone of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) research, development and innovation in Ireland since 1996. This name change reflects the renaming of TSSG to Walton Institute in 2021 and also reflects what ICS (Information and Communications Systems) Technology Gateway at Walton Institute offers client businesses in terms of opportunities, support and solutions.

In addition to the name change, ICS Technology Gateway is one of 17 Gateways to secure a shared total of €47million in fresh funding, for the continuation of the Enterprise Ireland Technology Gateway Programme until 2029. This is co- financed by the Government of Ireland and the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Southern, Eastern & Midland Regional Programme 2021-27 and the Northern & Western Regional Programme 2021-27.

Specialist equipment and facilities

To date, over 4,500 companies have spent €60 million via the Technology Gateways collaborating with researchers in the Technological Universities (TU) and Institutes of Technology (IoT). The majority of these companies are Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs), gaining access to facilities and knowledge that would be unavailable to them without the Technology Gateways.

“I am delighted to lead the ICS Technology Gateway into the new Enterprise Ireland Technology Gateway Programme,” says Liam Fitzgerald, Walton Institute’s ICS Technology Gateway Manager. “It is a very exciting time for all the team, for Walton Institute and for South East Technological University and we look forward to supporting businesses all over Ireland on their digital innovation journeys.”

The Enterprise Ireland Technology Gateway Programme works in partnership with Technological Universities and Institutes of Technology and across Ireland and comprises 17 Gateways nationwide offering specialist equipment and facilities and 300+ researchers with innovation expertise.
