Following her BA (Hons) in Accounting Kate Madigan started a three year graduate programme with one of Ireland's largest professional services firms, PWC.
"The ability to have one-to-one discussions with my lecturers was my stand out experience at SETU. I got to know all of them and the fact that they actually knew me by my name was fantastic." SETU graduate Kate Madigan
Life before attending SETU
Before attending SETU I went to the Presentation Primary and Secondary School in Waterford city.
One of Ireland's best exemption programmes.
I chose South East Technological University (SETU) because I was trying to find a business course but was unsure if I wanted to specialise in accountancy. It wasn’t until later in my Leaving Cert that I decided that accountancy was for me. So, I looked around to all the colleges and saw that SETU offered the best exemption programme in Ireland. The programme was only three years, it was a short degree so I knew I would be well able for it. One of the bonuses was that I got to stay at home. It’s got a great reputation and my class was quite small. The lectures really helped us out all the way. I feel like it was just a great college to be a part of.
Personable lecturers
The ability to have one-to-one discussions with my lecturers was my stand out experience at SETU. I got to know all of them and the fact that they actually knew me by my name was fantastic. They help you through your exams and even after your done college they're always willing to help. That really helped me while I was in college.
Fantastic opportunities
The advice I would you give someone considering doing the BA (Hons) in Accounting would be to definitely do it and work hard. It is a tough degree but once you put your head down and work hard you will be flying. The opportunities after are fantastic.
Current Role at PWC
I am currently doing a three and a half year graduate programme at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) in the Waterford office where I work as an assurance associate.
