Background
My passion to learn about business and management guided me to obtain my bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at one of the top universities of Azerbaijan. During my education, highly professional faculty members and extensive library resources at ADA University assisted me in deepening my knowledge of business, developing innovative thinking and complex problem-solving skills, and hence obtaining my undergraduate degree with Summa Cum Laude honours.
Furthermore, during my undergraduate studies, I was given an opportunity to do an exchange semester in Lille, France, at IESEG School of Management, where I lived in a multinational environment and experienced a true sense of interculturalism. It was my first long-term international experience that completely reshaped my perspective of life, as I was exposed to a vast variety of opinions that widened my worldview and empowered me to become more tolerant towards cultural diversity. Ever since I have dreamed of furthering my education in an international framework.
Besides my studies at ADA, I was trying my best to be helpful to society by volunteering in diverse organizations. I was actively volunteering at Erasmus Student Network Azerbaijan as the national vice-president, where I was leading a team of young and passionate individuals to create an international environment at different higher education institutions and integrate international students into Azerbaijani society. It was one of the breakthrough moments when I realized how much I love guiding people to do something of value for society, which is something I am still carrying with me during my professional career.
During my undergraduate degree at ADA, I completed an internship at Unilever, a global FMCG company, after which I was offered an entry-level position as a Risk Advisory Business Analyst at Deloitte. I was constantly working with corporate clients of different sizes, mainly consulting them with their management strategies, internalization, and expansion decisions using data analytics, and giving them guidance on leading business practices using Deloitte’s global resources.
Realising her dreams
When I was working at Deloitte as a Risk Advisory Business Analyst, I was realising my dreams of helping the Azerbaijani economy thrive. However, this experience has also demonstrated to me that my theoretical knowledge was not yet sufficient to independently utilize data analytics tools to examine data and understand it from a financial perspective. Thus, I believe that continuing my education to obtain a Master’s degree will help me improve my weaknesses and qualify me as a competent business analyst. MBS in Finance and Business Analytics program offered the right tools and modules that would enable me to achieve my goals. Therefore, I decided to apply to this program.
A forward-thinking MBS

Also, since Ireland offers work opportunities after graduation to international students, I am planning to take advantage of this opportunity and work as a business analyst after finishing my degree. Considering the tech industry is highly developed in Ireland, I believe that getting professional work experience here will help me a lot in learning the best practices in Ireland, and hence bring them back home to Azerbaijan.
A solid grounding for the working world
So far, Data Modelling and Analytics benefited me a lot since it is very practical and comprehensive. In this module, we learned MySQL relational database system in detail and worked on an individual project, where the students were asked to build a database system and manage the data in this system. Since MySQL is a very common software that is used by many firms, knowing this software profoundly will benefit me a lot when searching for job opportunities, as well as during my professional career.
Waterford as a student city
When studying at the SETU Waterford campus, students are given a lot of opportunities to engage in extracurricular activities. There are a lot of student sport clubs and societies, so everyone can find something for their interests. I was involved in the Postgrad Society, as well as the Kayaking Society and HipHop & Afrodance societies, so I was never bored during the semester!
My college experience also included: Moving to live in Waterford, winning awards or bursaries, clubs and socs participation and friendships / social activity were all important factors
