After studying a BA (Hons) in Finance and Investment, Darryl de Souza returned to SETU after six years to further his studies and improve his skillset by completing an MBS in Finance and Business Analytics.
Career opportunities
Driven by a curiosity about investing and financial markets, I initially graduated from SETU in 2016 with a BA (Hons) in Finance and Investment. Following this, I returned home to Malaysia where I gained work experience across multiple industries. This included accounting for a luxury goods retail company, business development, research, and operations for a manufacturing conglomerate. Additionally, I was involved in investor relations and corporate communications for a financial communications consultancy agency and in another similar role for a public-listed company.
Further studies
After six years of work experience across different jobs without specialising in a particular career, I realised that I needed to upskill. I returned to SETU for postgraduate studies having previously received my undergraduate there. SETU provided me with a positive learning environment that enabled me to challenge myself and grow as a working professional within the corporate world.

This course has provided me with a stronger technical and analytical aptitude. This creates a competitive edge when applying for new career opportunities. The knowledge obtained from the MBS in Finance and Business Analytics complements my professional experiences acquired to date and allows a smooth transition to a potential long-term career as a business or financial analyst.

Studying in the south east
Waterford is thriving. It has experienced rapid growth in recent years, attracting foreign direct investment across different industries including technology, pharmaceutical, and financial services. Multinational cooperations are setting up new offices in the region, be it in Waterford or nearby Kilkenny, Wexford, and Carlow. Waterford also has the benefit of being part of the sunny south east. It is a great place to study.
