Anyone who has a love of art won't regret choosing SETU's BA (Hons) in Visual Art says Paulette who has gone on to teach in a further education setting.
"I was a chef for years but then I decided I needed a change, I opted to try my hand at something I'd always loved doing and I always loved art." SETU Graduate, Paulette O’Donovan
Paulette O’Donovan from Clonmel, Co. Tipperary has recently graduated from South East Technological University (SETU) with a BA (Hons) in Visual Art.
A wide range of modules
It was a fantastic course. There is a huge amount of modules on it. We've done drawing, painting, printing, metalwork and sculpture, photography, and creative multimedia. There are a variety of different mediums used. I would certainly recommend it. I focused on 3D from 3rd year, my main area being sculpture.
Further education teaching
I am currently doing a post-grad diploma in teaching in further education, also through SETU, I have three teaching placements through this course covering pedagogy, drawing and sculpture modules to level 4 and 5 students. I am also currently teaching in a VTOS centre in Co. Clare doing a drawing module with students there.
Smaller class sizes
At first, locality was the main reason I chose SETU because I'm a parent. I also liked the look of the University and the course. Having a campus with smaller class numbers makes the experience more personal. I was a chef for years but then I decided I needed a change, I opted to try my hand at something I'd always loved doing and I always loved art.
A home away from home
If you have a love for art you won't regret doing this course. It's a personable setting. It's a home away from home. The studio sizes are very generous and being part of a smaller group means plenty of opportunity for one-to-one advice from the lecturers too. I would highly recommend SETU for this.
