South East Technological University (SETU) was delighted to welcome members of its Muslim community to celebrate Eid al-Fitr at its Carlow campus.
Funded through SETU’s Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) office, the university hosted its first Eid al-Fitr banquet for more than one hundred invitees. Muslim students were joined by family and friends, alongside fellow SETU staff and students for this celebration that marks the end of Ramadan, a sacred month of fasting, prayer, and reflection for the Muslin community.
SETU lecturer and event organiser, Haider Al-Juboori, commented on the gathering, “I was delighted to be part of organising this celebration which brought Muslim staff, students, and community together to enjoy a communal meal and encourage cross-cultural understanding. Our aim is to build on the success of this evening, organising further events to introduce SETU and its programmes to the wider community.”
Many thanks to all that attended. Particular thanks to Vice President for Student Experience, David Denieffe, SETU’s chaplain, Fr. Martin Smith; SETU’s EDI team; and the staff from the KSG catering.
