South East Technological University (SETU) has a significant presence at this year’s Higher Options event at the RDS, in a bid to assist students to make informed decisions about their third-level education.
Platform
Higher Options offers a platform for around 30,000 students from across Ireland to engage with representatives from universities and colleges in Ireland, the UK, Europe, and beyond. This year’s exhibition runs from Wednesday, 25 to Friday, 27 September 2024.
As Ireland’s largest education expo, run by The Irish Times, students can gather valuable information about higher education options, attend career talks on a broad range of subjects, and have one-to-one conversations with college representatives. An extensive programme of talks is scheduled for each session to help with information gathering and making decisions on CAO, further education and training opportunities.
SETU has one of the biggest stands at Higher Options. Faculty and school liaison and outreach officers from SETU are on hand to answer your questions and help you gain invaluable insights into courses, campus life, and admissions procedures.
Advice
Jess Lawton, Marketing & Outreach Officer at SETU has this advice for sixth-year students, “Whether you are certain about your future path or still exploring your options, visiting SETU’s stand at the Higher Education Zone in the Shelbourne Hall is the perfect opportunity to gather the information you need to make well-informed decisions,” she says.
In advance, Jess advises students to prepare a list of questions that tie in with your interests and needs. “Ask about academic requirements, course content, and potential career paths. The SETU team is ready to answer all your questions,” Jess adds.
Encouraging everyone to visit the SETU stand, Hugh Ryan, Schools and Alumni Liaison Officer says, “Meet our academic staff, talk to our graduates and learn more about campus life. Learn more about our sporting facilities, student societies, and nearby attractions you can enjoy when you're not studying or attending lectures. College life is more than just classes, lectures, and exams—it's where you'll create lasting memories.”
