SETU has launched a new Master of Education (M.Ed.) programme designed to meet the CPD needs of busy teachers, training professionals, and current and aspiring educational leaders across all sectors of education.

This part-time Master’s programme is tailored to educational professionals seeking to deepen their knowledge of teaching, learning, and contemporary issues in education, while advancing their careers.

"The Master of Education programme responds to, and addresses, contemporary issues in education, offering participants the opportunity to select from a diverse range of modules. These include Digital Education, Inclusion in Education, Mentoring, Curriculum Design and Assessment, Innovation in Teaching and Learning, Environmental Sustainability in Education, and Wellbeing in Education. Participants will also be supported to conduct research into areas of interest within their own professional practice."

Dr Clare Bolger, Programme Leader, highlighting the relevance of the programme to teachers and education professionals.

Recognising the demands on today’s educators, the programme has been designed to provide maximum flexibility, enabling participants to balance their studies with work and personal commitments. The M.Ed. will be delivered online predominantly to facilitate increased accessibility and flexibility for learners.

The M.Ed. programme will allow participants to engage with a community of practice, fostering collaboration and shared learning among professionals from diverse educational sectors.

By joining the M.Ed., participants will be part of a community of practice of engaged and committed educational professionals from a variety of sectors. Through their studies, they will discuss and critique recent developments in education and reflect upon and share good practice in teaching, learning, and assessment. This will enrich their understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing students and teachers so that they can continue to foster dynamic learning environments.

M.Ed. graduates will be recognised as proactive, committed professionals, who are dedicated to improving the learning outcomes of their students.

Dr Mary Fenton, Head of Department of Education.

The programme will begin in January 2025. Applications are now open.
