SETU will host its inaugural PMSS (Professional, Managerial, and Support Staff) Excellence Awards at a ceremony at SETU Arena Waterford on Friday, 27 September.

The first-annual awards ceremony is part of a new staff recognition initiative launched by the President of SETU, Professor Veronica Campbell, in March 2024. The initiative gives staff across SETU’s varied PMSS teams the opportunity to nominate colleagues for Excellence Awards in recognition of their contribution and commitment to the University. Those nominated will exemplify the goals and core values of SETU, while also fostering collaboration and communication with the wider university community and its partners.

Fostering a culture of wellbeing and engagement

Speaking about the establishment of the PMSS Excellence Awards, Prof. Campbell commented, “It is with great pleasure that we will host the upcoming SETU Excellence Awards 2024. Key to the success, sustainability, and development of our university, is the people who work across SETU’s PMSS teams. The work of these teams underpins the roles of academic staff and plays a vital part in providing support to our diverse student body.”

Prof. Campbell continued, “At SETU, we have an exceedingly talented team of people who demonstrate excellence, innovation, and inclusivity through their work in their respective departments, units, and faculties. It is a strategic objective of SETU to foster a culture of wellbeing, engagement, and academic and organizational excellence. Recognizing the hard work and dedication of our colleagues is an avenue in which we hope to do that. I would like to thank our staff members who so generously nominated their fellow colleagues for this year’s Excellence Awards, and I look forward to celebrating our nominees and awardees at next week’s ceremony.”

Nominations

SETU staff were invited to nominate colleagues for the Excellence Awards 2024. Each nomination was supported by two staff members who submitted written statements of support for their colleague(s). Overall, 35 staff members were nominated for awards by a total of 45 colleagues.

Awards ceremony

At next week’s ceremony, four individual awards and one team award will be presented. The ceremony begins at 11am, concluding at 1pm. The event will be live streamed via SETU’s website. In-person attendance will be by invitation only.
