Earlier this month, SETU researchers Dr Bernadette Flanagan and Dr Noelia Molina attended the Sacred Sea conference in Zadar, Croatia.

The conference, entitled "Religious Practices in a Maritime Context", looks to establish a maritime pilgrimage network between SETU, and the universities in Zadar in Croatia, Valencia in Spain and La Rochelle in France. Dr Flanagan and Dr Molina enjoyed the opportunity to network with their colleagues across the other EU Conexus universities, and share ideas into making the maritine pilgrimage a reality.

Our researchers travelled to the University of Zadar thanks to the EU-CONEXUS Mobility Fund. The conference focused on both past and present religious practices within a maritime context, in order to discuss, combine and compare different approaches, problems and perspectives towards the study of the connection between saints and the sea.
