SETU’s Kilkenny Road Campus, Carlow welcomed social care and early childhood organisations to their annual Careers Development Seminar on Tuesday, 7 March. With over 300 students registered for the event, attendees also included students from SETU’s Wexford Campus and Carlow College, St Patrick’s.

The seminar is a unique event in the student calendar creating networking opportunities for students and organisations alike. With twenty-four organisations represented from both the early childhood and social care sectors, students had an array of people to network with, and to gain an insight into the opportunities that are open to them across the south east region.

Whilst engaging with the many organisations, students learned about the various career paths available to them once they complete their studies. Through a series of guest speakers, they broadened their knowledge and understanding of both the social care and early childhood sectors.

There was also a practical element to the day, a human resources student was on hand to review and advise students on their CVs. Many availed of the service and found it extremely helpful, especially for those currently applying for placements and employment opportunities.

The organising team at SETU would like to thank all those who attended the seminar and those who helped to make it such a success.
