A lecturer at the South East Technological University (SETU) has been shortlisted in the Employee of the Year category of the National Diversity and Inclusion Awards 2024.

The National Diversity and Inclusion Employee of the Year Award, sponsored by Musgraves plc, recognises an individual who goes the extra mile to champion diversity and inclusion above and beyond their day job.

Dr Cara Daly, who lectures in the School of Science and Computing, was nominated, and shortlisted for going “above and beyond in her commitment to providing excellence in all key areas of diversity and inclusion”.

Dr Daly was previously honoured for her work championing LGBTQ+ inclusion at SETU. She received the inaugural Vicky Phelan Equality Diversity and Inclusion Award at the university earlier this year.

Speaking about being shortlisted, Cara said “I am honoured to be nominated for Employee of the Year in the National Diversity and Inclusion Awards. This recognition is not only a reflection of my personal commitment but also underscores the collective strides SETU is making towards a more equitable and inclusive future for our entire university community.”

The winner will be announced on Thursday, 8 February 2024 at the National Diversity and Inclusion Awards in the Dublin Royal Convention Centre, Dublin 8.
