On 27 August, SETU welcomed a new cohort of entrepreneurs taking part in Phase 2 of Enterprise Irelands New Frontier’s programme at its campus in Carlow.

Eight entrepreneurs from innovative ventures across various sectors in the south east region were selected for this full-time six-month programme. The Enterprise Ireland New Frontiers programme is a key initiative aimed at accelerating the growth of early-stage businesses with high potential in Ireland.

Welcome to Phase 2

This event was an opportunity to welcome new programme participants to SETU’s campus in Carlow where participants will have a dedicated workspace available to them over the course of the programme. The group was welcomed by Gemma Purcell, Enterprise Development Manager at SETU in Carlow, who said, “We’re delighted to welcome a new cohort of ambitious entrepreneurs to the New Frontiers Phase 2 programme. This marks the start of their journey as we work with them providing the tools, mentorship, and resources they need to turn their vision into reality.” This comprehensive support helps start-ups navigate the challenges of scaling their operations, ultimately contributing to job creation and economic growth in the south east region.

Paula Carroll, New Frontiers National Programme Manager, addressed attendees, “Enterprise Ireland is proud to partner with SETU in the delivery of the New Frontiers programme which is critically important in supporting ambitious founders with the right connections, the right skills, and the right route to capital to dramatically increase their chances of success.”

Aidan Shine, CEO of Propelor BIC, also spoke at the event. He said, “Propelor BIC is delighted to support the New Frontiers Programme in SETU.  With its remit from Enterprise Ireland to support High Potential Startups (HPSUs), Propelor BIC sees the New Frontiers Programme as an important source of pipeline of potential HPSUs in the region. The programme allows entrepreneurs to explore their ideas in a structured way, as well as tapping into expert guidance and linkages to the startup support ecosystem during the programme.”

Lastly, attendees heard from Alex Kelly, founder of Flower Child and former New Frontiers participant. Alex’s story is one of inspiration for the budding entrepreneurs. The Flower Child brand specialises in natural alternatives to everyday home fragrance products, building on a deep-rooted connection between nature and health. Alex shared her experience of the New Frontiers programme and how it helped her set out the strategic direction of her business. Now stocked in over 50 retailers and exporting to a number of foreign markets, Flower Child is going from strength to strength.
