South East Technological University (SETU) Lifelong Learning has warmly welcomed a generous donation of computer equipment from the team at Affirma Consulting, a full-service consultancy specialising in business transformation, strategy, technology, and digital marketing. The donation will be given to SETU’s collaborative partner, Tiglin.

Tiglin first opened its doors in 2008 with its first residential rehabilitation centre for men in Wicklow, followed by additional centres in subsequent years, including a centre for women at Brittas Bay. The charity provides rehabilitation programmes for people affected by drug and alcohol addiction and homelessness. It supports them in creating a life beyond addiction, which includes facilitating educational and training opportunities to service users.

SETU, through its Faculty of Lifelong Learning began collaborating with Tiglin in 2016 to deliver supportive and engaging educational programmes to advance access to higher education and to better support reintegration into society with appropriate skills.

Rosemary Flynn, Manager of Faculty of Lifelong Learning noted “the teams at SETU and Tiglin greatly appreciate the very generous donation of high quality IT equipment, including laptops, which will have a real impact on the learner experience for this unique group of students. The donation of this equipment will assist SETU and Tiglin learners to complete their courses which are specific to the needs of those on the Tiglin recovery programme.”

Jennifer Mahon, Ireland Site Director for Affirma (pictured) and Jennifer Hennelly, Director of BPO at Affirma, presented the equipment to SETU and commented,  “We at Affirma strive to focus on the people element of our business by placing emphasis on collaboration, integrity, and initiative. We are delighted to see this equipment go to good use and play a part in helping students at SETU and Tiglin to achieve their goals. We wish the collaborative project the best into the future”
