As part of the 2024 Waterford International Film Festival (WIFF) two exclusive short film programmes will be screened at South East Technological University’s (SETU) Granary Campus.
This year WIFF and SETU entered into a partnership, representing a significant collaboration between two pillars of creativity and innovation in the south east region. It was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU).
As part of the partnership, two blocks of short film screenings will take place on Saturday, 23 November at the Auditorium in SETU’s Architecture School in the Granary, which is located in the heart of Waterford’s vibrant Cultural Quarter. These screenings will feature a selection of short films from 18 incredible filmmakers, including talented debut and student filmmakers as well as established professionals.
From a unique mix from heart-touching documentaries and powerful dramas to thought-provoking animations there is something for everyone to enjoy.
“We are delighted to present such diverse voices through our new partnership with SETU,” says Stephen Byrne, WIFF Festival Director.
“The festival team is excited to be partnering with SETU. This year, we are presenting 18 short films with SETU—a mix of genres and styles from both aspiring filmmakers and award-winning talent. The Granary is an excellent venue to highlight a diverse mix of films from both emerging and established talent, and our goal is to develop more programs with SETU in the future,” he added.
Dr Suzanne Denieffe, Head of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at SETU in Waterford, said SETU is delighted to work with the WIFF and is especially proud to host film screenings at the Granary Campus.
“SETU’s partnership with WIFF reflects our commitment to fostering cultural connections and supporting the arts within Waterford and beyond. We believe in the transformative power of the arts to inspire, unite, and drive meaningful change, and we are proud to play a role in showcasing creative talent from around the world,” said Dr Denieffe.
The Film Festival kicks off this Friday, 22 November with an exciting mix of online screenings and live events to enjoy. Whether you’re tuning in from home or joining us in Waterford, there’s something for everyone!
