Conor highly recommends SETU's Try Sport and Nutrition to anyone who has an interest in applying for a sport-related course in the future.
Conor Coleman, a past pupil of St Augustine's College Dungarvan Co. Waterford embarked on the three-year level 7 Bachelor of Business in Recreation & Sport Management at South East Technological University (SETU) having discovered it at a Try Sport and Nutrition event at the SETU Arena.
He explains why other students should consider signing up for a Try event.
Honing in on interest in sports recreation
After seeing an advertisement for the Try Sport and Nutrition I signed up quickly as I knew events like this filled up fast. I had a particular interest in sports science but on the day I got to experience other sports modules that were on offer at SETU. It was then when my interest in going in to the recreation management side of things began as I didn't know such a course existed before attending the Try event.
A passionate representative
Listening to Dr Patrick Delaney passionately speak about Sport and Nutrition convinced me that this was the course for me. The activities we did on the day only confirmed this gut feeling – giving me a great insight into both level 7 and 8 Recreation and Sport Management courses at the University.
The power of a Try event
I would highly recommend Try Sport and Nutrition to anyone who has an interest in a sport-related course in the future. Not only does it give you a snippet into what the course is but it allows you to talk to the lecturers first-hand and ask any questions you may have - and trust me, I had so many to ask!
Another bonus of attending an event like this is that I settled into college pretty quickly as I met some people on the day who ended up in my course. That, along with having less uncertainty on my first day proves that attending a Try event is well with the effort!
