Biography

Assistant lecturer, Principal Investigator, Researcher, Program Leader, and Senior Engineering Technology Engineer. Abdulaleem is based at the Department of Engineering Technology, School of Engineering, South East Technological University, Waterford. He received his PhD from Dublin City University (DCU) in 2014 and holds an M.Sc. degree from Trinity College Dublin (TCD), and Double Diploma in Engineering from National Institute of Applied Sciences of Lyon (INSA Lyon). He was a postdoctoral researcher and Research lead in Fluid Structure interaction (DCU). Abdulaleem has also 10 years experience in Hydraulic design of several heavy turbomachinery equipment (Pumps, mixers, and aerators) where he had a significant contribution into the design of several optimized, novel, and patented hydraulic solutions.

Dr Abdulaleem's primary research and work interest is the numerical and experimental study of different type of fluid systems and in particular multiphase flows and fluid structure interaction. Dr Abdulaleem has a specific interest in the area of hydraulic design optimization for improved efficiency, reduced power consumption and CO2 emissions. Dr Abdulaleem has developed several in-house numerical models (VOF, LS, CLSVOF, Eulerian FSI) tailored to solve particular fluid applications using both commercial and open source software (ANSYS, OpenFOAM). He also contributed into building several flow rigs with integrated flow measurement devices (Digital Image Correlation, Particle Image Velocimetry, and Pumping Flow Controls).
