Biography
Ailish Counihan is an Accounting Lecturer at Waterford Institute of Technology and has lectured on a range of programmes at all levels within the School of Business since October 1999. Ailish’s principle teaching interests include Financial Accounting, Management Accounting and Management Information Systems.
Ailish has a B. Comm, from University College Galway, an M.Sc.,(Research) from University College Cork and is a management accountant.
Ailish is an associate member of Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
Ailish currently lectures accounting at all levels within the School of Business at Waterford Institute of Technology. She is also involved in the design, development and delivery of programmes to enhance student engagement and participation, thus encouraging students realise their full potential.
Prior to joining WIT, Ailish lectured at Tralee Institute of Technology, Cork Institute of Technolohy and University College Cork, lecturing Information systems and accounting on a range of programmes.
Ailish was employed at Munster Business Institute as a Management Accounting lecturer, providing professional accountancy tuition to accountants at all levels for ACCA, CIMA and CPA examinations. While with Munster Business Institute, she was an associate researcher on a CPA manual for costing which was published in 1997.
Ailish has previously undertaken research in the area of evaluating investments in information technology and has investigated the investment appraisal process in relation to the data warehousing investment decision and has published as follows:
