Biography

Dr Greg Doyle completed his undergraduate degree in Applied Computing in Waterford Institute of Technology in 1993 before moving to Dublin City University where he completed his MSc in Computer Applications on a Centre for Software Engineering funded academic scholarship. He spent time as a software developer before moving to the Institute of Technology Tallaght where he worked as a lecturer and researcher in the Department of Computing. In 2001 he moved to the South East Technological University (formerly IT Carlow) and is now a senior academic and researcher in the Department of Computing. As a member of the academic staff at SETU he completed his PhD in Computer Science (data science and machine learning) in 2010 and has since established his Advanced Machine Intelligence Research (AdMIRe) group with a colleague in the Computing Department at SETU, focused on intelligent systems, including AI, machine learning, data science, InsurTech and Fintech as well as services and service systems. He has successfully supervised PhD and MSc projects and has won funding from national and European funding agencies to support research in these areas. His research is typically applied and is focused on collaboration with industry and academic partners, regionally, nationally and internationally. Currently, Dr Doyle is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Science at SETU, is a Research Director of the AdMIRe group, Programme Director for the MSc in Data Science and is incoming Director of the InsurTech Network Centre (INC) and Services Hub at SETU
