Mark Doyle has been a faculty member in the Department of Applied Arts at SETU since 2019, where he teaches across a broad range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. He completed his PhD at University College Dublin, funded by the Irish Research Council, where his research focused on communication and interaction dynamics on dating applications. The findings from this work have directly informed the development of targeted sexual health interventions in collaboration with the Mpower programme at HIV Ireland. Mark is also a qualified sexual health advisor, with over five years’ experience in public and sexual health outreach. His research interests include masculinity studies, sports and physical cultures, sexual health, and the design of health and wellbeing interventions. He is currently conducting a study on powerlifting and maximal strength training as embodied responses to body image concerns and mental health challenges in young men. Mark is enthusiastic about interdisciplinary collaboration and welcomes opportunities to work with colleagues, particularly those from sociology, psychology, health and sports science backgrounds, who share an interest in the areas above.
