SETU is a member of a cross-sectoral mentoring programme between the following partners:
- Atlantic Technological University (ATU)
- Dundalk Institute of Technology (DKIT)
- Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT)
- South East Technological University (SETU)
- Technological University of the Shannon (TUS)
Mentoring is a process whereby an experienced individual (the mentor) supports and develops another person (the mentee) through the sharing of their experiences and the resulting lessons that they learnt. Staff from all of these partners can sign up to the online portal as either a mentor and/or mentee. A quick and simple registration process gives users potential matches within minutes.
To learn more please watch the specially commissioned Mentor Training Video facilitated by Judith Spring which will provide you with an overview of the process and your essential role.
Sharing knowledge and expertise is fundamental to our development both as individuals and in our professional roles. Mentoring is a goal-oriented relationship that aims to enhance and nurture professional and personal development.
For mentors, this is the chance to give back, and share your experience and knowledge. For mentees this is the chance to learn from others who have experience and knowledge. By building a strong mentoring relationship both the mentor and mentee can develop insights into areas they are less familiar with (or that are completely new to them).
Through reflection on the part of the mentee and guidance and support from the mentor, there is a mutually beneficial learning exchange based on knowledge gained through experience.
