Biography
I am currently Head of Department of Management & Organisation in the School of Business. Prior to this, I was a lecturer in the Department of Accounting and Economics in the School since 1997, lecturing on a number of undergraduate and post-graduate programmes. My subject areas were Financial Accounting and Taxation. I also supervise research projects on taught post-graduate programmes and doctoral programmes.
I was the Co-ordinator for the DBA (Doctorate in Business Administration) programme for the 2016/20 group.
My educational background includes professional examinations of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICAS) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). I hold an MSc in Corporate Governance from Bournemouth University (UK) and a Doctorate in Education (EdD) from The University of Sheffield (UK).
Prior to joining WIT, I worked with KPMG, PwC and also in industry.
In recent years, my teaching primarily focused on accounting related subjects within and outside the Business School. My main subject is Taxation – Corporate and Capital taxes. The programmes on which I lecture include:

BA in Finance and Investment
I was also involved in supervising student’s projects/dissertations at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
My Doctorate in Education thesis focused on how the assessment regime in higher education influences student learning and how lecturers’ perceive educationally worthwhile learning.
How students learn at second level (rote learning) is inappropriate for higher education and education providers must adopt strategies that promote deep learning so as to ensure our graduates are work ready.
Qualified as Accountant with KPMG, Dublin (1988 – 1992) and also worked with PwC, (Waterford) (1994 - 1995).
Worked as Financial Controller in 2 SMEs, one in the construction industry, the other leisure and tourism
