Monitoring, supervising, setting, marking and assessment of examination and coursework, and developing and implementing new methods of teaching to reflect changes in research and practice. The provision of academic and pastoral support to 3rd level students in their learning activities. Participate at open days, information evenings and Exam Boards.

• Authored five published books and a regular contributor to Medical, Nursing and Pharmaceutical Journals, with over 300 published clinical journal articles, including CPD modules for Doctors, Nurses and Pharmacy teams.

2020: Developed the ‘Educational Hub’ and involved in the implementation and provision of online educational webinars for IGPNEA General Practice Nurses CPD.

2023: Delivered a module on 'Immunisation' to the Nurse Prescribing Candidates at RCSI

PhD Health Psychology 

• A qualitative research study on the impact of depression and peer suicide on young males (2006-2011).  Research and Societal Response.

• Research: Screening and Intervention for Alcohol Misuse and its implementation in General Practice. The screening tool for alcohol misuse devised and developed through Theresa’s research, was accredited and implemented in General Practice Surgeries for Practice Nurses across all Primary Care Trusts, London.

2018: Profile of a Nurse-led Student Medical Centre in a Higher Education Institute. 

• This profile outlines the wide range of nursing/medical services provided at the student medical centre and presents quantitative data over a three-year period from 2015-2018, on the number of nurse triage consultations, doctor appointments, nurse-only clinical appointments, mental health and STI statistics. It also provides social demographic data collated through GMS and non-GMS attendance. The profile includes the findings and recommendations of the PSS and external expert panel review of the medical centre. It highlights the high satisfaction ratings with the medical service and staff, high ratio of service users to medical centre staff, and considers areas for future development as student numbers continue to rise. 

2023: General Practice Nurses’ perspectives of enablers and barriers to caring for ‘Culturally and Linguistically Diverse’ (CALD) patients. 

• Collaborated and worked with the research team at the University of Limerick, co-designing a survey to examine General Practice Nurses’ perspectives of enablers and barriers to caring for ‘Culturally and Linguistically Diverse’ (CALD) patients. This survey instrument has meaning and utility for General Practice Nurses, and the findings generate evidence that has relevance to practice and will inform change.

2019:

• Produced and developed the ‘Student Health Matters’ eBook, endorsed by the Irish Student Health Association (ISHA) and was Project Lead and Lead Author of the ISHA ‘Student Health Matters’ App, which is the first of its kind resource for 3rd level college students in Ireland. Worked in collaboration with ISHA and Dr Knut Schroeder GP and Senior Clinical Lecturer at Bristol University UK, in the production of the Student Health Matters app.

2011:

• Founder Nurse Member involved in the setup, development and practical application of the Carlow/Kilkenny Community Intervention Nursing Team (CIT). A collaboration between Caredoc and St Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny.

2001:

• Designed, developed and piloted, the first ‘NHS Direct’ clinical audit tool for ensuring safe practice for Triage Nurses when assessing and advising clients at the ‘NHS Direct’ in South-West London. The piloted ‘clinical audit tool’ was successful and implemented in practice for Nurses across all ‘NHS Direct’ services in England from 2002.
