Our SETU Access Office team in Waterford engage with schools, local/regional partnerships and community development projects to support and encourage third level access for members of the Traveller and Roma communities. This funding which has been secured through the Programme for Access to Higher Education (PATH) Strand 5. The key objective of this funding stream is to increase the participation and progression of Traveller and Roma students in Higher Education and, to support the achievement of NAP (2022-2028) targets in this regard. 

SETU in Waterford are part of the SOAR project, which is an inter-institutional collaboration on access. It brings together the south cluster – Munster Technological University, University College Cork and South East Technological University together with community partners to collaborate on devising and delivering strategies to increase access to higher education for under-represented groups.

Access bursary for members of the Traveller community or Roma community 

Applications for the Access Bursary 2024-2025 for members of the Traveller community & Roma community studying at SETU in Waterford will open in November 2024, date TBC. This bursary is available to all full time and part time students who are members of the Traveller or Roma community.
